Webcom operates out of a 170,000-square foot manufacturing plant located in Toronto and employs 200 people.
The Prepress Operator is responsible for reviewing customer files and preparing them for production, managing work queues and ensuring quality standards are met. She/he will also ensure that files are produced in a timely fashion.
Required Skills & Experience:
Ability to work the afternoon shift (3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.)
Ability to work independently and make decisions
Understanding of print impositions and Kodak Preps software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Diploma or Degree in an accredited Graphic Communications Management or related field of study
2 – 5 years of relevant experience within the publishing/graphic arts industry
In depth knowledge of the print production process
Proficient in the use of Adobe Indesign, Adobe Acrobat Pro and Kodak Prinergy
Ensure customer files have been reviewed and processed through Insite in an effort to preflight all jobs following SOP.
Document issues to further improve the process by altering workflow as required to maximize productivity.
Ensure all items on quality checklist have been reviewed (document, trim and spine size, low resolution images, missing
Support the use of RBA’s and automation while working with management to continually improve production process.
Ensure schedules are followed on a daily basis, with emphasis on meeting ‘Proof Out’ dates in a timely manner.
Work with the Project Managers to prioritize daily work and customer initiated corrections.
Work with customers from time-to-time to communicate technical information.
Escalate applicable file errors/discrepancies with the Project Managers.
Work with the Planner/Scheduler as required in an effort to prioritize urgent press requirements.
Involvement in creating and following Prepress SOP’s such as: cover and text production, file uploads, FSC logo’s, corrections etc.
